So, you’ve done it. You’ve taken the leap to turn your passion into a full-time income. Of course, you want that business to grow and succeed, but life doesn’t come with an instructions manual and it can be unclear on how to scale up. However, we’ve got the closest thing that will help you to see the bigger picture for your business. A guide to perfecting marketing growth of your business.

Having a clear focus on what you want your business to achieve is crucial in order to be successful. Whether that’s a figure in mind for your yearly intake, 1000 followers on social media, or even how many sales you want to make next month. It’s important to know where your business is going, and how it’s going to get there. That’s where our three steps come in.

01. Strategic direction.

To create a clear sense of direction for your business, it’s important to make sure you have a marketing strategy in place. Not only does this mean you can get focused on your goals, you can also begin to understand the bigger picture – what ambitions do you have for your business? What does your business look like without any obstacles?

You’ll need to make sure your business has goals first. What are the top three things that you want to achieve? Firstly, make sure you put a time frame on it. For example, what do you want to have achieved by this time next year? This will help you to create realistic goals that will be achievable for you and your team.

What are your values as a business? It’s important to incorporate these into your strategic direction. These are the personal values that come from you and the people within your business. They carry through in everything you do – both internally and with your customers, suppliers and partners. Including these values within your marketing strategy and the content you put out is a great way to grow your business.

02. Grow your business with a plan of action.

Look at the current activities that are ongoing within your business. Are you networking? Are you active on social media? If the answer to both of these questions is ‘yes’, great! That means you’re already on the right track. However, it’s important to see the bigger marketing picture and make sure you’re looking beyond just social media and networking. Different marketing activities are appropriate for different businesses, and it’s important to identify those that are suitable to you.

Online marketing activities are a great way to increase your brand presence and build trust amongst your audiences. Having said that, you first need to identify the activities that could work for your business. This can be anything from email marketing campaigns, social media content and blog writing. For instance, content like TikToks, reels, animations and vlogs are a popular way to get yourself noticed – but they’re not for everyone. Another growing online marketing activity is podcasting – a perfect way to have your voice heard in a more informal setting if you’re not keen on being on camera.

Because of the growth in technology that can be used for marketing your business, it’s important not to forget about offline marketing activities too – these are just as important as online! The good old fashioned telephone is a great way to provide your customers with check up calls to see how they’re getting on. Direct mail, presentations, case studies, and brochures are all other offline marketing techniques that connect with your audience. However, you need to make sure that the activities you’re doing serve a purpose for your business. Understanding what marketing activities do and don’t work for your business is a key factor from the get go. This allows you the time to focus on what it is that you do best.

03. A results review.

Next, you’ll be looking at how your marketing is doing. You’ve started to work on your online and offline marketing activities and now you need to make sure you’re monitoring the results. Knowing the results your activities are giving you helps to ensure they’re working towards your business goals.

First of all, look at what’s working for you. Are your email newsletters getting a good open rate? Is your social media content generating engagement? Continue with this!

Secondly, what’s not working? Did that Facebook post get a low reach? Consider the ways in which you could improve on it, and make the change. If you find yourself coming across an area that isn’t working for you and there’s no way to improve, just stop what you’re doing. Those resources can be used to focus on the areas that are working.

Finally, ask yourself; “what more could I do?” Whether it’s new ideas, marketing activities or collaborations, make sure you’re always thinking about what you could be doing next. Don’t be afraid to get creative and challenge yourself and your team. If you have an idea for a new TikTok trend you’ve seen, give it a go! Push yourself out of your comfort zone – it could be the best thing for your business.
